Apple SEAR announced a cryptographic upgrade for iMessage with PQ3, a post-quantum cryptographic protocol providing Level 3 security. This makes iMessage the first messaging service to implement such advanced encryption, surpassing other apps.

Quantum computing threatens current cryptography. Quantum computers could break classical encryption, risking the privacy of stored data. PQ3 addresses this by using post-quantum cryptography, ensuring iMessage security against future quantum attacks.
