Not many can do a “complete” data quality assurance without first knowing where the data is at rest and where it goes while in transit.

Enterprises have the hardest lift in these areas due to legacy systems and legacy data that lives on those systems.

You can and should “start” doing this, making it a part of your processes and business culture. Yet, you will find the secondary issue of… you and your employees “do not know your processes”.

I think as leaders we need to start creating classroom content to teach others the why and how of things going forward. Since talking about them as overarching ideas isn’t making changes on the enterprise side. Great ideas and albeit great concepts end up stuck in the self perpetuating echo chambers.

To be clear as well as kind, Manuel is correct ✅ the issue is, that this is not the norm. The issue is if we do not look at the issue or discuss it, it will remain an issue.
