So, I spent my last weekend, with an invite to check out the WM Phoenix Open this year, and I was pretty intrigued. I mean, it’s not every day you get to experience something totally new, right? With a rare free weekend on my hands, I decided to seize the opportunity and head over.
The main agenda? Well, it was all about meeting new people, networking, and diving deep into discussions about Automation, and GenAI. You know, figuring out what’s working, what’s not, and where it’s heading. So of course I had many conversations on the Autonomous Enterprise!
The things that stood out:
1. There are many companies and enterprises out there who are “re-creating the wheel”, in terms of RPA, Automation, and Intelligent Automation.
2. There are just as many skipping the wheels and attempting to ski downhill, with no ski poles.
3. A company is beholden to its employees, and the employees, tend to make up the company’s overall ‘business’ culture.
4. When there are hundreds of thousands of people in one place. I am happy that yelling ‘fire’ in a crowd is against the law.
You may have heard the news on this. However, the Waste Management Open is a whole different beast. The sheer size of the event is mind-blowing, with nearly 500,000+ attendees flooding in over just a few days. And let me tell you, Saturday? That’s when things really hit their peak. It’s a wild, unruly party, at least at the 16th whole. Luckily I was on the 18th.
Thankfully, there were pockets of calm amidst the chaos. You could easily find areas where you could steer clear of the madness. But hey, when you mix rain, mud, and booze, and half a million people, there’s bound to be a few slips and spills along the way.
Overall, though, it was an incredible experience. Sure, there were a few hiccups here and there, but being able to be a part of it all was definitely worth it. Plus, it’s always fascinating to see how different technologies and innovations are shaping the world around us, even in the most unexpected places.
