Everything old will be new again:
Much like the post below and how scary a situation like that can be. The Nigerian Prince email scam is still going strong and has even evolved with the help of advanced AI and LLMs like ChatGPT? These scams are expected to become an even greater threat in the future. In these scams, fraudsters pose as foreign royalty or investors and ask victims for bank account information or a small advance payment, leading to significant financial losses.
But it’s not just the Nigerian prince scam you need to be aware of. Investment scams, business email compromise (BEC) scams, and romance scams are also on the rise.
Investment scams promise high returns but end up stealing victims’ money, costing the US $1.9 billion in losses in 2020.
BEC scams use fake emails from executives or vendors to request wire transfers or payments, costing victims $1.8 billion in losses worldwide in 2020. And
Romance scams, which target those looking for love online, cost victims $304 million in losses in 2020.
So stay vigilant and be cautious of any suspicious requests for personal or financial information. Remember, scammers are skilled at preying on people’s greed and desire to be a hero. Don’t let them take advantage of you! #ScamAlert #StaySafeOnline #AI #ChatGPT
