Reid Hoffman recently created an AI version of himself called —REID AI— and recorded a Q&A to see how this digital twin might challenge him.
The video avatar is generated by Hour One, its voice was created by Eleven Labs, and its persona—the way that REID AI formulates responses—is generated from a custom chatbot built on GPT-4 that was trained on his books, speeches, podcasts and other content that he has produced over the last few decades.
So my thoughts 💭 here: I am a big fan of #authenticity yet… Reid made some very compelling points in this video. For one the thought and ability of generating content or a message that the avatar then could replicate over many languages. Breaking down of barriers and yet different rules around public figures and private figures.
I do think there is a time and place for avatars, yet this may all change as the technology around them get better and has less of a chance to have emergent behaviors. I mean what do you do if you’re avatar is prompt injected to make the avatar say something negative or false, but it’s your face and voice? Who’s responsible?
