Thanks Andreas Welsch for having me on for this special May the 4th episode. The intro alone is still amazing!
The best advice I can give from May 4th 2022, to May 4th 2023 would be to be brave, be bold, and companies need to start their digital transformation journey now!!
Building an automation culture first
Many companies are facing difficult decisions when it comes to choosing between AI and automation. While AI is often than not seen as a silver bullet that can solve all of the problems, there are concerns about its ability to deliver tangible value and a return on investment. On the other hand, while automation has a proven track record of delivering results, there are mixed or hyped messages and examples that can lead to confusion and a sense that the value and the time to deliver benefits may not be significant enough to justify the investment.
As a result, some companies may be hesitant to embrace either technology, leading to a loss of time and potential value. However, it is important to recognize that both AI and automation can play important roles in building an automation culture within a company.
The key is to understand the strengths and limitations of each technology and to develop a strategy that leverages the best aspects of both.
For example, AI can be particularly useful for tasks that require complex decision-making or analysis, while automation is better suited to repetitive, rules-based tasks. By combining the two technologies, companies can create a powerful automation solution that maximizes the benefits of both.
Additionally, companies should focus on normalizing data and investing in data management tools to ensure that automation and AI initiatives are based on accurate and high-quality data.
