Unreasonably Effective AI with Demis Hassabis

This last week there was a conversation between Demis Hassabis, CEO of Google DeepMind, and Professor Hannah Fry Their discussion caught my eye since they were discussing the meteoric rise of artificial intelligence, which I mean at this point we are all highly invested in one way or another.

:

▫️ : AI has shown an unreasonable effectiveness, surpassing expectations with abilities like conceptual understanding and abstraction, even when trained solely on text data.

▫️ ’ : Demis predicts that AI could lead to curing most diseases within the next 10-20 years, especially if breakthroughs in AI-driven drug design continue.

▫️ : He envisions the arrival of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) by 2030, aligning with DeepMind’s ambitious 20-year roadmap.

▫️ : Over the coming 2-4 years, we may see AI systems that combine expert strategic planning, like AlphaGo, with the world knowledge and conceptual grasp of language models like Gemini. * ℎ ℎ “ ” ℎ . ℎ ℎ ℎ ℎ ℎ ℎ ℎ . -Doug Shannon

▫️ : The conversation also touches on the need for rigorous AI safety measures and the importance of responsible development as we * edge closer to AGI.

For those keen on staying ahead in the world of AI, this discussion is a thought-provoking exploration of what’s next and how we can shape the future responsibly. * ’ ℎ ℎ ℎ ℎ ℎ . -Doug Shannon
